Research
The aim of the academic research component is to produce original high-quality academic research in all Corporate Finance research areas relevant to the field of Private Equity, with the view of submission and publication in top academic journals. To this purpose, the Chair brings together resources in the form of specialized databases, scholarships for Ph.D. students, and funding for primary data collection.
The current academic research areas of the ESSEC Private Equity Chair are:
1. Monitoring Ability and the Sources of Value Creation in Buyouts
The aim of this area is to use large-sample evidence to study value created in PE deals. In addition to quantification of this value, we also plan to investigate: the sources of value and their contribution to total gains; the allocation of these gains between buyer and seller parties; the correlation between value creation and proxies for monitoring ability of PE funds.
2. The Impact of PE on the European Economy
The purpose of this study area is to assess the importance of PE for the performance of European economy, using firm-level data. Specific focus is made concerning include the impact of PE on growth, profitability, productivity and employment. |
